This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I want to make a care package for each of my students while we gear up for the upcoming testing season. They are in 3rd grade so this will be their first year taking not just district tests, but state tests as well. It is a long month of daily testing for minimum 45 minutes and it is hard to keep them motivated.
Since we are not allowed to use computers once the testing is over, most students who finish early will need something to do to stay in their seats while their classmates finish.
By having a care package for them, it will give them a buddy to take the test with (stuffed animal), activities to do when they finish early (coloring books) and new materials to use.
This is the beginning of these students' having to test every year until the end of their academic careers - I want to start it off in a positive way! This group of students has been one of my favorite group of students! I have taught them for two years now, and if I cannot loop with them again next year, I want to end the year on a positive note. These students have worked hard this whole year to get ready for testing, all while still maintaining a positive attitude towards school. They are a truly special group who deserve something special.
