My students need art supplies. They need watercolors, oil and chalk pastels to broaden art horizons beyond markers and pencils. They also need portfolios to place work in.
Imagine the only think you had to express your self artistically was markers and pencils. That is what my students are dealing with right now. They are growing bored of only drawing in our art class they want to be challenged and to be honest so do I!!
My students are great.
The Art program at our school has been closed for two years due to low school enrollment. We have opened it again this year with myself as the teacher. The students are happy but they are growing boredd of always creating art with markers or pencils. I know that they can do so much more with they just had more supplies.
My Project
Benefits that Art has with Students:
#1 - Boost In Creativity-Creativity is not something you are born with. Art classes support the development of that creativity while giving students the opportunity to express themselves.
#2 - Increased Concentration-Students focus more effectively when provided the freedom to work according to the artistic vision in their minds. Too often, young people are easily distracted, spurred largely by video games and television.
#3 - Affirmation Through Achievement-Students need affirmation, but it has the greatest impact on them when it is delivered as a compliment for a personal achievement. Through Art, young people can enjoy the freedom of creativity without the concern of potential failure.
#4 - Ability To Complete Projects-The ability to take projects through completion evades many young people. Though they don't realize it, they're building the foundation of an important character trait that will yield dividends throughout their adult lives.
Young people are confronted with an increasing number of challenges.
Art classes can provide the head start they need to scale those challenges. These lessons offer the opportunity for them to develop valuable life skills in a non-confrontational environment. By exploring their own creativity, they can enjoy several advantages over their peers. Later in life, these advantages can have a dramatic impact upon everything they do.
