Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My project is special because many students have felt the pain and insecurity job loss caused their families. I have noticed many students want to take control and grow from this experience by becoming entrepreneurs and have thought up creative ways to bring income to their families, especially when they are not of age to work in my state. I have seen art students laminate small drawings with packing tape to sell them as stickers, and some have even turned them into jewelry items. I have also been taught by a 15-year-old how to negotiate with wholesale suppliers overseas as he sought out packaging for his homemade candy business.

I want to show my students the ways they can start up their own creative businesses and give them back a sense of control of their lives.

The fabric printing ink and canvas bags will introduce students to personalized clothing items from a simple printing process which is something our clubs can even do to fundraise at our school. The glaze liners help give ceramics students an easier way to personalize and design mugs and plates for others as they tend to struggle with using a paint brush. The thin glaze application allows them an easier way to create designs they are proud of with the extra tools and wax allowing them more creativity in their work.

I want to show students that it does not take an art school graduate or a business degree to grow a brand and how to create the life they want by pursuing their passions. I teach ceramics and art, and the items in my cart will show students how to create sellable apparel and personalized ceramic items that are very popular today and are things they can be proud of regardless of their skill level.
