Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach 21, precious first graders, in a very rural Title I school! My students come from very diverse backgrounds, over half of them come to me with English as their second language! While there are language barriers, this does not stop learning from taking place in my classroom! From the minute we walk in the door in the mornings, to the minute we line up for dismissal, my students are learning and thriving! This is the most eager to learn group of students, and I want to give them everything they deserve, and then some!

My Project

One of my biggest goals as a first-year teacher is to provide my students with as many resources as possible to help them succeed. STEAM is becoming a huge part of the educational world, and I want to give my students access to as many STEAM resources as possible. STEAM stands for science, technology, engineering, art, and math.

Having access to LEGOs, baseplates, magnetic tiles, and other building materials in our classroom would allow my students, and their imaginations to soar!

These STEAM manipulatives would be used first thing as we come into the classroom, for indoor recess, science, and math lessons, and also for brain breaks!

STEAM resources in our classroom would allow for collaboration, communication, hands-on learning, relationship building, and so much more!
