Starting the Year the Right Way!

My students need basic supplies, glue sticks, scissors, washable markers, and colored pencils, to begin the year on the right foot!

My Students

Our middle school serves one class of each sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students for a total of 88 students. These students come to our school from diverse backgrounds across our district for a challenging and rigorous curriculum that allows them to secure advanced placement in high school.

Our classroom library is a place where diverse students come together to learn and relate to each other through shared interests.

Middle school students are focused on the increasing pressure to fit a norm and find out who they want to be. I have found that the pressures of being a middle schooler often recedes as students have conversations focusing on a common ground of literature. The students are able to bond and share experiences from their lives with their peers in a safe environment.

My Project

Supplying my middle school students with these supplies will allow for my students to start the year off right! Many of my students come from low-income households.

I want to provide my students with consistent classroom supplies such as paper, glue, and coloring tools to allow for creativity and diversity within the curriculum.

My classroom is a place where growth, diversity, and creativity are welcomed and fostered everyday. I encourage students to take risks and experiment with non-traditional assessments. Part of encouraging students to take risks is having different tools in the classroom to use. Providing students with markers, colored pencils, paper, glue, and hole punchers allows for my students to think outside the box without worrying about having the supplies.

Providing students from a wide range backgrounds with supplies and tools in the classroom allows for students who come from low-income households to have the same opportunities as their peers.
