This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Do you remember how you felt before starting the first day of school, the butterflies in your stomach? What would your teacher be like, what would your classmates be like? My students have different fears and challenges. The biggest challenge is how they are going to afford their school supplies.
My classroom is a 4th grade special needs class.
They have learning delays or emotional disabilities. They live in a low income neighborhood. Everyday they are excited to come to school is a day we can educate them and help them create a brighter future for themselves. But many of my students start the school year without the supplies they need to make the year a success. They are always a great group of students who just need a chance to start off on the right foot.
My Project
I've asked for normal supplies such as pencils, pens, highlighters, and folders to help get the first few months of school started for each of my students. I've also asked for a case of copy paper to use when my students print out their published works throughout the year.
