Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My kindergartners are the sweetest most loving bunch! They come into class eager to learn, starting their morning work immediately after unpacking their backpacks.
I teach in a Title 1 school in GA where 83% of the students speak English as their second language and the majority of these students receive free or reduced breakfast and lunch.
Most of my students are preforming below grade level in both reading and math, but they come to school daily eager to learn. They ask questions when they don't understand and most importantly, they never give up!
My Project
My students need 3 ring binders, sheet protectors, dry erase markers, and pencil pouches to help them (and me) keep their morning work neat and organized. The sheet protectors will allow me to make fewer copies and students can practice a skill (like learning to write their name) over and over again. I will use the white boards for both large and small group work.
I want my students to learn to take responsibility for their materials.
Having them keep up with their own binder, pencil pouch and markers will be the beginning of this life skill. It will also help them learn to respect property.
