Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
It is difficult to learn without some creativity! Right now, we do not have some basic supplies like glue sticks, markers and dry erase markers to add some life to our learning. With these materials, students will be able to add color, use dry erase boards, and create projects to liven up our work.
Our K-5 school is in a major city.
Our fifth grade class has 14 students - 11 boys and 3 girls. They are all minority students, mostly of Latino background. We are a high poverty school with free breakfast and lunch. Parents struggle to buy basic school supplies.
My Project
Families struggle to buy basic school supplies and budget cuts have negated schools from buying supplies like glue and markers for their teachers. With our new supplies, we will be able to create awesome projects in science, social studies, math and reading. My students will learn that school can be creative and their responses are limited only by their imagination. Our dry erase markers will liven up our class by allowing students to use individual dry erase boards to answer questions instead of just responding on paper. It is a great way to engage my students in their own learning!
Families in my school have difficulty buying school supplies.
I want to provide my students with glue and markers to add some fun and life into learning. I want the kids to love school and by adding in the ability to use fun materials, students will have the opportunity to be engaged fully in their learning!
