My Students
I have a dynamic kindergarten class that consists of 27 highly energized, curious and active students that need to come to school every day! Our school is located in an area that is economically challenging for many families. All of my students receive free breakfast and lunch. We are a Title I funded school, located in the South side of Los Angeles.
My students work very hard to come to school each day to learn something new to increase their brain power!
My Project
For my classroom I'm requesting working supplies. My students will need to begin using their motor skills by cutting with scissors, using glue sticks, pencils, and a pencil sharpener to begin writing. This will occur everyday as they get into the routine of learning how to work and not worry about having adequate supplies. Cutting, using glue sticks and writing with pencils are the beginning stages of development as the students assess their curriculum and create art projects.
Having working tools for kindergarteners and teaching them how to organize their tools will increase engagement and productivity.
I am also requesting Post- it easel pad paper and markers so that I can present lessons and model activities large enough for the students to see and follow. The markers will be used to emphasize color and create exciting kid friendly posters. The name tags will help the students see their names on their own pencil pouches, which will help them stay organized and hopefully keep down the frustration of losing their supplies.
