My students need supplies to start off the year strong - toner, ink, and extra red folders (our homework folders) will set all students off on the right foot.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My 3rd grade class has a diverse group of students. In our school, we have students from all over the world - from New York to Ecuador, from the Dominican Republic to Ghana. 90% of the students in my school receive free or reduced lunch and 90% of students speak a different language at home.We want to support, encourage, and nourish them in the classroom because we know how challenging the world can be outside of the classroom.
My class is a flourishing bunch of bilingual readers and writers, but they need more resources in the classroom.
My Project
The beginning of the school year is always a scary time. New teacher, new classmates, and a new set of expectations.
When my students start off the year, they shouldn't have to worry about how their homework is going to get home.
Although red folders are a staple in my school, they're something that can easily fall through the cracks while buying school supplies. They are the thing that help parents and teachers communicate on a daily basis - when students have this, they have ownership over their work.
3rd grade is also the first time many students will be expected to use pens in the classroom. By providing them with materials, they will feel more comfortable about the transition.
