Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This fall, I will begin my first year teaching 11th and 12th grade Resource English at a high school that serves primarily low-income students. My students are bright, determined individuals—many of whom have learning differences, IEPs, or face challenges that make school feel overwhelming. They need a safe, well-equipped space that supports their growth as readers, writers, and thinkers.
As a recent graduate, I'm excited to bring fresh energy and commitment to my classroom.
However, starting from scratch means I need nearly everything to create a functional and welcoming space. From basic supplies to flexible seating, I’m working over the summer to ensure my students walk into a room that tells them they matter. I am requesting Wobble Chairs, Stackable Stools, Composition Notebooks, Headphones, and more!
For many of my students, school is one of the only consistent places in their lives. I want my classroom to be a space where they feel seen, safe, and supported—a place where they can take risks, build skills, and prepare for life after graduation.
As a first-year teacher, I’m bringing passion, preparation, and high expectations. What I’m missing are the resources—and that’s where you come in.
