My students need a new pencil sharpener that won’t eat their pencils, and adult size scissors to complete projects. Motivational posters will promote positive behaviors. New calculators will help with math assignments. Other items will help organize.
Our school is a small rural alternative school in Central Idaho. The economy has been struggling for years. This has made funding things difficult. In hard times we need to get creative to make it happen for our students.
Our classroom serves the most at risk students in the school district.
They were struggling with being in the traditional high school and came to us to get back on track. Many of the students struggle just to get their basic needs met and don't have the resources to bring needed supplies to school.
My Project
The post it notes and index cards will help student organize their work for their language arts class. Calculators will help them to complete the work they have in math. All the project supplies will help them on major project that are assigned in all of their content area classes. These supplies are fulfilling the needs of the class.
This is a new assignment and new class for me as the teacher and I want to make sure the students have the tools they need for success.
I want all my students to be able to have what they need to complete work as it should be.
