Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My classroom is more than just four walls; it's a space where students should feel comfortable and right at home. Coming into a new classroom at the beginning of the year, these items will hopefully empower them with the tools they need to thrive (especially as low-income students). As a second-year teacher, I am beginning to learn what really works and what doesn't in a classroom (from my own experiences and by learning from others). All of the items I have selected have a purpose in the classroom, whether it's for their well-being, for learning, or for organization.
The zipper pouches will be used to hold all of the student's ELA materials in order to facilitate transitions from whole group to small group during their Reading block.
The mail organizer will play a huge role in student accountability, keeping all classwork and homework in one spot for easy access and to take home! The fidget toy bundle will be used throughout the year to ensure the treasure box is always filled with goodies and rewards. The set of headphones would ensure all students have a pair of their own. They will use them during computer centers, and this will allow others to continue working on other materials without the distraction of loud noises. The remaining materials are used to provide a safe, comfortable, welcoming, and organized classroom!
