This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In 4th grade, I moved to a new town and my teacher definitely wasn’t my biggest fan. That experience stuck with me, and now, I’m building the kind of classroom I would have loved. I know supplies aren’t a magic wand, and just because you have every tool or item you need doesn’t mean things will go perfectly.

We’re also hoping to add a large, cozy rug to our space.

It may seem simple, but for many students, a warm, welcoming area to gather makes a big difference. The rug will be a central part of our classroom: where we meet for morning check-ins, discuss big ideas, read together, and take a breather when the day gets overwhelming. For some students, having a soft place to sit instead of a hard desk can make learning feel more inviting and human.

Together, these resources will help build not just academic skills, but a classroom culture rooted in curiosity, comfort, and connection. Thank you for helping me create a space where all students feel safe, supported, and excited to learn.
