Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach in a Title I school in the Bronx. My students are in an Integrated Co-Teaching first grade classroom. My first grade students are diverse and come from many different backgrounds and cultures. Many of my students receive special education services and some of my students are English language learners.
My first grade students belong to a lower income level community in the Bronx.
My students come to school every day and are ready to learn regardless of their circumstances and challenges. They enjoy learning new things and look forward to participating in new activities.
My students will be back in the classroom this Fall. For many of them, this will be the first time in over a year. Therefore, my students will need school supplies.
My Project
Unfortunately, due to the current conditions, many families are struggling and are not able to access the school supplies their child might need throughout the school year. School supplies, such as, notebooks, papers, pencils, crayons, hand sanitizers, and wipes allow students to learn in a clean and safe environment. Therefore, it is extremely important that my students are provided with their school needs.
Providing students with their school supplies will greatly reduce stress from families.
Many students come to school unprepared. Therefore, providing my students with these supplies will greatly benefit them. My students have many different learning styles and abilities. Therefore, these school supplies will ensure a successful school year.
