My Students

My students usually come to me with very little educational background because many families cannot afford preschool. Coming to kindergarten is a new and, for some, scary experience. It is very important to me that they have a classroom that is fun and encourages my students to want to learn. Most of our students come from low economic households and we strife to make our school a safe learning environment where our students want to learn new things and are encouraged to be the very best they can be.

Our school is the only AVID accredited elementary school in our district.

I want to give my students the best opportunity to become College and Career ready, and Kindergarten is where it all begins.

My Project

These materials will help give my students the extra support and practice when entering Kindergarten at the beginning of the year. Using different materials and concepts will keep my students interested and having fun at the same time.

I teach at a Title I school, and many of my students have not been able to attend preschool or been given the opportunity to learn their letters and sounds before entering Kindergarten.

The ability to give them these extra learning tools will help them feel successful and continue onto the next step of using those sounds to make words to read.
