This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
This year brings about a new change for me:moving back to one of my favorite grade levels-Second grade! Our school is made up of students from a variety of backgrounds. I have students from Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, and various parts of the U.S. Fifth grade is an exciting time, and each of my students brings something new and creative to offer to our class community.
The school itself sits in a neighborhood that is considered historic and is home to many ESL families.
Our school is a Title I community that desires to serve and grow our students.
My Project
This year I am moving back to second grade, which has always been one of my favorites. The pencils will keep us stocked all year and allow for a fun holiday treat. The Mercy Watson books will start to spruce up my lower level books, and the colorful ink will allow me to make things such as task cards, bookmarks, and bulletin board items (just to name a few) in color. The headphones will be used on standby for those who are unable to provide their own, or for when personal pairs break. Stamps and post its will allow for student feedback and many other things.
This project will be a great start for a new school year!
