This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
In 2nd grade at our school, we serve a variety of children who come from a variety of different backgrounds. The students in my classroom all share something in common: they are learning English. Their brains are constantly working hard in two languages and they impress me every day. I want to make the classroom time as enjoyable and enriching as I possibly can to help them become successful people in the future. My students deserve the best our education can offer them. I don't want them to be held back because of their situation or the financial needs of the district and state.
My Project
At my school we do not send home school supplies lists over the summer because our students do not have the means of getting these supplies. Our school and our teachers buy all the supplies the students will ever need for the school year. Pencil Sharpeners, pencil pouches, erasers, glue sticks, and whiteboard markers are simple yet extremely important supplies the students don't always have access to during the school year.
These supplies I have asked for are always in high demand at our school and therefore are not always readily available.
Teachers usually end up going out to spend their own money to buy these supplies for the classroom. Having these supplies well stocked all year will help my students always be ready to learn!
