Start the year LOUD!

Help me give my students a musical education. The music program is in desperate need of additional materials. I am requesting beginner percussion materials for our new students. The cajon pedal is for live performances on campus.

FULLY FUNDED! Mr. Younger's classroom raised $1,275

My Students

High School students have always drawn special power from music. I had the opportunity to listen to three generations of local alumni describe the special role that music held in each of their High School Experiences. As they recalled their experiences from decades past, they educated me on the importance of my role as a music teacher for students today.

Students in High School today are at risk of not being able to access the musical education that was offered in the past.

Many students rank music classes as their top priority, but they might not be able to access those classes. For some students, music classes are the reason they keep coming to school.

The wealth of different cultures that co-exist in Hawaii offer inspiration to young musicians. Taiko drumming, ukuleles, Tahitian rhythms, and Hawaiian Olis sound through the streets all over the Islands. It is my job to make sure that those sounds are also coming from the High School.

My Project

Students are motivated by music. Period. Music can heal, inspire, and give students reasons to come to school.

It won't be easy coming back to school after being gone for so long.

Music will make it easier. We need to trap the students' attention on day one, and tap into their creative energies. I can wait for the first jam session!

Some students will be signing out materials to take home. The egg shakers will be used for ice-breaker games. The cajon pedal will help students execute live performances in quiet spaces. This music program will live and thrive.
