Help me give my students the essential items we need to begin the new school year safely and with structure.

My Project

As a special education teacher, creating a safe, predictable, and welcoming environment is key to helping my students thrive. Many of my students benefit from clear visual boundaries, sensory support, and extra safety measures to ensure they stay safe and engaged throughout the day.

For this project, I am requesting a door chime and a retractable gate to help alert us when students who are prone to eloping (leaving the classroom without permission) attempt to exit.

These items are critical in helping us respond quickly and keep students safe.

I’m also asking for a new classroom rug to refresh our sensory area—a calm, soft space where students can self-regulate and reset when they’re feeling overwhelmed. In addition, floor marking tape will help us define classroom zones and provide visual reminders that support transitions and appropriate positioning.

Lastly, a student mailbox system will help teach independence and responsibility as students check their mailboxes daily for communication, completed work, and routines.
