My Project

I am recently working with many Somali speaking students who just arrived America. They had a very rough life before they got to this country. Some of them spent years in refugee camp and had no access to education.

I hope these books can offer them a sense of starting a new life where they no longer have to worry about their safety and food.

And I also hope these books can help to open the gate to literacy and be successful in the classroom.

With these books, I will be able to help them defeat the language barrier. Being able to read these bilingual books can also help them be aware of the diversity of this country which eventually help them to build a more open-minded personality.
