My students are funny, smart, and try so hard to learn and please their teacher. My class is diverse and there are many students whose first language is not English. Having hands-on tools available to them is crucial to the success of their learning. They get so excited when I tell them, "We will be learning something new today."
Nelson Mandela once said, "Education is the most important weapon which you can use to change the world." I hope that through the education my students receive, this is something they will take away at the end of the year.
My students especially love it when I bring out the hands-on learning tools available in our classroom. It is so fun to watch their minds grow and expand as they are manipulating objects that help to solidify the difficult concepts taught in first grade. In addition to teaching my students content from the core, I am trying to teach them that education is powerful, that it will get them anywhere they want to go, and that it will help them to change the world.
My Project
The kits that have been requested in this project will provide students with the opportunity to explore engineering and science in a way that will be fun, meaningful and engaging. Students will use these kits at our STEM lab that has recently been added to our classroom at their request.
STEM is an important part of students' educational experience, student's need to have skills in science, technology, engineering and math that will prepare them for the future.
I believe that when students have a voice in the topics they learn about, they are more vested and willing to learn. My students have helped select these kits and are very excited to add them to our STEM lab.
