Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Help us create an opportunity to blend student interests/hobbies with educational connections. These supplies would allow us to start a club for students to build social skills while applying mathematical principles and strategic attention to precision. This club would focus on the application of the Mathematical practices to a hobby in which my students have expressed tremendous interest.

Many struggling students seek alternative venues for educational connection, and this project would provide that opportunity without students having to contribute financially.

Many students have expressed interest in this opportunity, and am planning on having our Math club co-design application of the project to make Mathematical connections and build fundamental mathematical understanding (with the Mathematica Practices as the foundation of the plan).

The supplies in this project are varied, but should provide adequate storage and protection for the supplies to be used by the students on a daily basis. We would love to be able to provide this opportunity without students having to contribute anything financially, and also make an incredible application of Mathematics in the world outside of traditional classroom lessons and standardized tests.
