This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
We are a school on the far northeast side of Chicago where 100% of the students receive free lunch. My school is located in a very low-income community. Most of the students come from immigrant families and are also refugees. Due to the lack of funding, I am writing to seek your support for our classroom. Imagine the joy on a student's face when they are recognized as the "Star Reader" for the day!
Our classroom aims to inspire a love for reading, and one way we celebrate our young readers is by giving them a special chair to sit in during independent reading.
These chairs not only make our "Star Readers" feel extra special but also provide comfortable seating for all students, making our reading sessions even more enjoyable. In our classroom, we have a tradition of highlighting one student each day as the "Star Reader." It's a moment of pride and accomplishment for them. However, our current seating options don't reflect the importance of this role. We are seeking your support to acquire 2 office chairs that will be designated as "Star Reader Chairs."
These chairs will serve as a physical representation of the honor bestowed upon our "Star Readers." They will be a source of motivation for all students to excel in reading. Additionally, comfortable seating will enhance the overall reading experience in our classroom, allowing every student to focus better and engage more fully in our daily reading sessions.
