This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Middle School students in Newark NJ have begun to DEBATE. As their STAR Debate Coach I realize the importance of public speaking skills, research and informative writing. These tools prepare our students for life skills that will carry with them in their adult lives. We are a diverse group of striving readers and writers made up of general ed, bilingual and special needs students. Together they are learning strategies to help them build best practices as debaters.

My Project

Debate and Podcast is a way to build upon public speaking skills. Together with a computer and microphone our STAR DEBATE TEAM will be able to research high interest topics, present materials in documents that are shared and communicate through WEBEX Platform in order to debate.

As our debaters continue to prepare for debates throughout the school year they will use this technology to record themselves and provide feedback in order to become the best public speakers.

Electronic presentations can incorporate photographs, sounds, charts, guided outlines, and other features to help maintain audience attention and clarify or demonstrate complicated ideas. An engaged audience member is more likely to pay attention to the material and therefore listen more actively to a presentation.
