Stands Up for the Band

My Students

Our middle school band has 155 students in grades 6-8 and is growing! We are a Title 1 school located in North Augusta, South Carolina. Our band students go above and beyond normal classroom expectations and support our school and community through a variety of performances each year. We have students who successfully compete on a local, regional and state level with music.

In band, every student has the opportunity to participate and be a member of a team.

We have students of all ability levels and learning styles as well as students from a variety of ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. By rehearsing and performing together, they develop a sense of community-working together and supporting one another.

My Project

The PKMS band continues to grow! We are fortunate to have a nice rehearsal space that is right next to the gymnasium where we perform, but with the number of chairs and stands required for our growing program, keeping the area neat and organized is becoming a challenge. Currently, students place our stands neatly against the wall at the end of class. For performances music stands are carried, two at a time, to the gymnasium next door.

Having a storage cart for our music stands would not only enable us to maximize our rehearsal space, but also would make our performance set-up easier and more efficient.
