My students need a standing work station for more seating options including bean bags. Not to mention, we need a rolling cart to stay organized and a carrel to stay focused.

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My classroom isn't just a classroom it is a home. We are a family in my classroom. I teach my students to love and care for each like a family. They need to be kind, honest, respectful and most of all loving. We are always there for each other and we know how to talk out our difficulties. My students are my children and I think and worry about them all day long, even when they are not with me.

My students are wonderful 3rd graders who have many different learning abilities and levels.

They all learn in different ways and I love that about them. It does create challenges but I love those challenges. They each need different help in different ways. Some need a visual way to learn new ideas, some need to move to learn, others need complete quiet and to be by themselves. While others need to work with a friend or a group.

They also come from many different back grounds and families. Some are low income and some are middle class. With a mix of family lives from mothers only, to split families and some are only children and some have 8 siblings.

My Project

A standing desk helps students who can not sit for long periods. They can stay focused and can work longer then at a sitting desk. Many students can not sit due to ADHD and other attention disorders. They need to move and have options that work for them. The bean bag chair is another great option for reading or doing work with a clip board. I have learned giving them a choice in their seating makes them feel like they have a say in their learning and are more likely to work for longer periods. I love to see their face light up when I say sit where you would like. As well, we are in desperate need of a rolling cart to keep organized and a carrel to stay focused during instruction time.
