My Students
As a teacher in a high-poverty school district, I work with students that are faced with challenges in and outside the classroom. Despite the challenges my students face, they persevere. My students are high energy, communicative, and enthusiastic learners. They have a lot of energy and are always looking for a fun way to learn. They love to get involved with the lesson in whatever way possible.
My students love to show off their work and teach their peers.
They are excited to teach each other, both in groups and in front of the class. My students are visual learners. They love to use different resources in the room to show learning strategies to their friends. The students are a great group of mathematicians, scientists, writers, and artists.
My Project
Nothing is the same or predictable in our classroom this year. Although we are currently learning in the classroom we have the ever looming threat of going remote at any minute. While in class my students and I take frequent movement breaks, when we go remote I will be sitting at my desk for the majority of the day. I worry that I will not be able to give my students the same quality instruction if I am not able to stand up and teach from time to time.
A standing desk would further allow me to provide the best instruction for my students.
Having a standing desk will help me be more comfortable to teach remotely and I will not be glued to my seat all day.
