My students need two standing desks with swinging footrests to provide an alternative to sitting as well to allow for fidgeting in order to reduce stress, maintain focus, and for better health.

My Students
At the front of my classroom is the quote, "Exceed Expectations!" I always encourage my students to go beyond what is expected of them and strive to always work harder, practice more, be better, and to go beyond what teachers, parents, coaches, and friends expect out of them. My class is a diverse group of curious, active, and determined students.
I strive to create a happy and comfortable classroom where children can enjoy learning and each other.
My students aspire to do their best in school and they are very interested in technology. I enjoy placing technology in their hands so they can use it in many ways on a daily basis. Our school qualifies as a moderate poverty school.
My Project
These standing desks will allow my students an alternative to sitting in the classroom. Some students have a hard time staying focused during lessons as they spend so much of their time trying to sit still. Students learn best when moving or fidgeting and with these desks my students will be able to stand and learn without distracting themselves and others.
I have found that giving students new ways to move and position themselves around the classroom helps them to better focus on their lessons, learn self-regulation, lessen anxiety, and enjoy school even more.
We have a classroom spin bike and bouncy bands on every desk. My students attention has improved greatly with these additions to the classroom. My goal is to add these two standing desks to the classroom to allow those students that have a hard time with sitting still a new opportunity to discover alternatives to sitting.
We have learning that sitting for lengths of time is not good for our health and bodies. I hope to teach my students these lessons as they discover how standing up can be better for their health and attention.
