Help me give my students the best possible environment to succeed. I am requesting one round table that can be adjusted to meet the unique needs of the student population in my class.
This school year I am lucky enough to be the educator to 31 of the most thoughtful, caring, collaborative, and creative fifth grade students. They are excited about the world and have so much to offer it. Every day my students arrive at school with so much excitement and eagerness to learn. They truly have a love for education. If I can do one thing for them this school year, I want to keep that ambition alive!
We are a classroom filled with MANY unique goals, aspirations, and unique needs.
My Project
I am the lucky educator of thirty-one 5th graders who have helped make our classroom a home. We actually refer to our classroom as a "Learning Laboratory" where we feel comfortable enough to explore content, make mistakes, and learn deeply. I have been provided with 31 sitting desks in my classroom. Unfortunately, those desks are outdated and do not meet the needs of my unique population.
Not all students learn best by sitting in a desk all day long.
In fact, I create plenty of opportunities for the students to get up and move around in our lessons. Some students even prefer to sit under the desks to work, while others prefer to move their chair to the side and stand at their desk. However, our desks are not a good match for their needs, and, therefore, I am requesting a standing adjustable table for our "learning laboratory." This table will be used every day by these scholars to help them do their best work.
Many of my scholars this year have the wiggles. Their constant movement sometimes disrupts the learning of other scholars around them. Giving them the option to move to a standing table will not only benefit the students who need to move but will also benefit students who learn in a more traditional setting. These adjustable tables have wheels on the bottom and can be moved around our room. They will help create a more collaborative atmosphere in my classroom as students can use them to work on projects together anywhere in our laboratory.
My goal is to see these scholars succeed and, ultimately, move on from my classroom to become positive contributing members of society. They are the future. Please help me to make their 5th grade year successful.
