My students need two long jump mats to practice the standing Long Jump during track practice and utilize during our school Track & Field Meet!

My Students
My scholars are a diverse and enthusiastic group of elementary students that live in a rural community in Hawaii. Many of our students come from economically disadvantaged homes and have limited resources and experiences relative to students their age living in the United States. One such experience is participating in a team sport.
Due to several factors outside of our control, the only team sport available to our scholars is Track and Field.
Our scholars' participation and dedication to Track and Field is incredible to see. Benefits of participating in a team sport span from helping scholars show their skills, gain greater self-esteem, build relationships and expand social skills, and has shown to increase their academic achievement.
My Project
Our Track and Field Team is in need of a Standing Long Jump mat for practice and use during our school sponsored Track & Field Meet. This year our Track and Field team has a total of 80 members and it is difficult to train and practice without the proper equipment. This Standing Long Jump map will be used during practice three days a week.
Over half of our Track and Field team is participating in the Standing Long Jump event.
Having these mats during our practice will help our scholars build confidence to have a sense of familiarity because they will have practiced with a similar mat with their coaches.
Our track meets are a community event that brings together our school Ohana, our student' families and local businesses. By donating to this project, you will help ensure that we will have enough equipment for all of our scholars to participate by practicing with equipment needed for their events. The equipment from this project will not only help for this year's Track and Field Team, but will benefit future school teams as well.
