Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are in grades 9-12 and studying various computer programs which will lead to college or career fields. They are of various educational and cultural backgrounds. Students are general education, special education, and English learners. Some students struggle with sitting for long periods of time and would benefit from flexible seating/standing. Some students are able to focus more when they can get up and move around. Using laptops in classes requires students to be able to stand with a place to set their laptop.

My Project

Several students have a hard time sitting for long periods of time. Standing desks in the class would help kids to keep their focus while giving them the ability to move a bit. This will help with focus and therefore improve success in the classroom. Lengthy class time causes some students to become restless. Using standing desks for students to be able to stand and work will help those who cannot sit still for lengthy time periods. If a student can rotate from a traditional desk to one of the standing desks in the room, this could help them to be more successful in completing tasks.
