We need music books! My young instrumental students could not be more excited about having the opportunity to learn an instrument. We just need music books so that we can continue to move forward with learning our instruments.
I teach band instruments to over 100 fourth and fifth graders in three elementary schools in a small Title I school district in New Jersey.
With a shrinking budget, I was not able to purchase enough books for the many students that enrolled in the program this year.
My Project
I am asking for Standard of Excellence Music Books. Standard of Excellence is a popular instrumental method used by many band students throughout the country. With these books, I can guide my students through a well laid out, sequential instrumental education that they are sure to enjoy. These books, along with supplemental materials, will form a solid and engaging curriculum for my students.
I am also asking for Alfred's drum method books for my percussion students. It is a thorough and exciting drum course for young percussion students that will give them the foundation and skills to become skilled percussionists.
The benefits of music education in a child's life are far-reaching.
Aside from pure enjoyment, students develop their spatial reasoning, critical thinking and social skills. With your help, my students can experience a solid foundation in learning an instrument that can benefit them this school year, and for years to come.
