This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students need 3 stand-up desks and 4 stools to promote healthy living and engagement for young, active bodies.

Fourth graders are active and need to stay that way!

At nine years old, it is a task to sit through a movie, let alone an entire day of learning. So why is it that in school we provide them with a desk and chair to sit in, and expect them to sit quietly all day long? Students need movement to be comfortable, and they need to be comfortable to learn.

My Project

My students are always asking me if they can more away from their desks to other areas in the classroom, like the rug or the floor, I would love to provide them with better options, like these standing desks, which also provide them with a surface to write on. Movement is very important to engaging their minds, therefore it doesn't make sense to expect students to sit while they are learning new content and only experience breaks to engage their bodies. Why not allow them to move while learning?

Stand up desks can help our students improve their health and education at the same time!

Kids are sedentary for 85% of their waking hours, sometimes not because of their choosing. StandUp Kids is fighting for children’s health one desk at a time!
