Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
In my classroom, you'll see students working while standing at their seat. Some will be laying on the floor, while others are in camping chairs. Yes, some will be at their desk if that is their choice. We even have pillows and beach chairs as alternative seating! All of these seating options help to support the diverse learners we had in our classroom this year. Some have/get everything they need at home. My students are an amazing group of people who always work hard and try their best!
My students are very hard working and come from many diverse backgrounds.
I have students from special education, English language learners, gifted students, and struggling students. Yet they all are a community of learners that love to choose where they learn best!
My Project
Some of my students like to sit, some like to stand and still others like to lay on the rug while they are working.
My students need futons to help them with group work and giving them flexibility to sit lower to the ground.
The cushions are for the school tables we have lowered to allow for working on the floor, and the bean bag "couch" is for creating a cozy library area to read and relax.
Are we all the same? Of course not! Everyone is unique! That is what I always tell my students. So it just makes sense that we don't all learn the same.
Gone are the days of traditional seating in a classroom where students are sitting silently at a desk in a small chair.
Some need so much more. I have students with special needs, like attention concerns, physical limitations, and learning disabilities. The most important thing about my students is that they are an amazing group of people who always work hard and try their best!
