My Students
My students come from a variety of backgrounds. What do they all have in common? They sit too much during the day. Sitting all day is bad for posture and mobility, and it makes it hard to focus and even stay awake. I have found a solution to this problem: the standing desk.
This project will benefit ALL the Latin students.
The youngest freshman and the most senior senior (can I say that?) will benefit from using a standing desk for some part of the class.

My Project
Do you think that high school students sit too much? If so, let's work together to buy 7 standing desks for the Latin classroom. Last year, the P.T.S.A. gave me a grant to buy 1 desk, and the students loved it. This year I would like to add more desks.
Standing desks in the classroom will allow every student to stand for at least 15-20 minutes each class period, and they have very large surfaces (4 times the size of the sitting desk), which allows students to gather easily for group work and easily rearrange themselves for a variety of activities.
