My school, not classroom, is an Environmental Studies Magnet Elementary School.
We are a diverse Title 1 public school.
We are a community magnet school that emphasizes all core subjects through the lens of empowering our students to be environmental leaders. We have children from every socio-economic background. We have a variety of languages spoken at our school. We are truly diverse.
My Project
We are a preK through 5th grade school. We have a music teacher once a week. He teaches our students everything to do with music, such as rhythms, songs, singing, choir, and even how to play instruments. It is very difficult to learn an instrument. Even more so, if you can't see the music. We need a minimum of 15 music stands so students have somewhere to put their sheet music while they learn to read music and play an instrument. Right now they are learning to play recorders with the sheet music either on the floor, their laps, or on a table.
“I would teach children music, physics, and philosophy; but most importantly music, for the patterns in music and all the arts are the keys to learning.”
― Plato
Please help our children learn to play music, it will truly make a huge difference to their education.
