My Students

My classroom serves 50 4th-5th graders. The school is in a high poverty area. The majority of the students come from at-risk families and homes. All students at my school receive free lunch. My school is a safe place for students. They look forward to coming to school each day. Students are curious, energetic, fun, kind, and hard-working. They love interacting and collaborating. Teachers and staff at my school are always looking for ways to inspire, motivate, and engage all students

My Project

I use a flexible and personalized learning approach to my classroom. My students arrive each day with many needs, talents, and active bodies! I want them to "feel at home" at school and be given choices that meet their developmental paths to success. The stand up desks will be used for those who would rather be upright working, than seated in a traditional chair, or for collaborative small group work and class reporting.

It is such a joy to see young learners make the best choices for themselves and allow myself as a teacher to be flexible and try to provide the right tools at the right time for all students!

I know these desks will be an excellent addition to my classroom and increase the engagement in the environment! The small storage area will also help with supply organization and ease of materials!
