Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
A study from Texas A&M University found that students who use standing desks demonstrate improved engagement, enhanced cognitive functioning, and a more positive mindset than their seated peers. My resource math class has students with various needs and abilities. Several struggle with attention and engagement due to mental and physical diagnoses. Standing desks will provide an opportunity to engage their body and mind simultaneously. Many activities in our class require them to get out of their desks. However, high school math does involve note-taking and independent practice at their desks. Standing desks allow them to complete these tasks while maintaining energy and focus.
