I love standing and working and so do my students! This stand-up desk would allow my students who need to move a little more, the choice whether to stand or sit. We were lucky enough to obtain a stand up desk last fall from some wonderful donors and are looking to add a new one to our classroom of growing students!
I have 21 lively and wonderful students!
They are able and ready to learn. Our school is in a rural area and has a high poverty level. With decreasing funding for education, it is becoming harder and harder to provide students with the supplies they need and deserve, especially additional furniture items. We currently have one stand up desk in our classroom. It has been widely enjoyed by all students--so much that they asked me to submit a new DC project for another. My students deserve to have every opportunity possible--thank you!
My Project
My students have now experienced a stand up desk in our classroom that was funded by DC this past fall. This flexible seating has them yearning for more stand up desks in our second grade classroom!
Flexible seating has allowed my students to move around while being actively engaged in their learning!
They are more able to focus on their student work while being encouraged to stand and get their wiggles out. The stand up desk is used for individual work and partner work during during ELA, Math, and WIN intervention times.
Helping us achieve our new goal of a stand up desk means that students would get a chance to work at a stand up desk once every two weeks, rather than once a month. We currently have 21 students in our classroom and they would be overjoyed to get another chance to work at a flexible seating station!
