Stand Up for a Good Education!

My students need alternative seating to facilitate their learning. I am requesting two stand up desks for an additional seating choice

My Students

My students come from a high poverty rural area in SW Washington. As we all know, children learn differently. That being said, some like to stand while they are working, others like to bounce. (We currently sit on yoga balls.) It is up to them how they like to sit to be comfortable in class and ready to learn.

A large group of my students also have learning difficulties and/or ADHD.

These children benefit the most from alternative seating. With alternative seating the option to wiggle, bounce, or swing their legs helps maintain their attention to the task at hand.

My Project

My students will use the stand up desk when they feel like standing and learning. The stand up desk has a swing bar so the kids can stand and swing their feet.

Differentiated teaching requires differentiated seating options and in our room now we use yoga balls.

The students are able to wiggle and squirm around while doing their lessons.

The stand up desks will give yet another way to learn. Some students simply like to stand and by having a stand up desk available the students will be able to have nice handwriting.
