Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Many of my students come from homes where education is valued, but often their parents are not educated. They struggle to concentrate and remain focused on their lessons. They require the ability to move. These desks will allow them to stand when they need to and still work.

I work in a Title 1 school where 100% are on free lunch.

Many of the students are ESL students. They have a difficult time concentrating while seated in typical desks. By having several of the "standing desks" in my classroom they will have the opportunity to move without disturbing others. This will allow them to learn in the environment that works best for them.

My Project

Students will be able to use these standing desks as they need to. I envision these being a learning area that students can go to when they find that they are not able to sit still and concentrate. Students will not be assigned to a desk, but will have the flexibility to move to them as needed.

These desks will allow the students to learn in the environment that works best for them.

They may not need it everyday, but having them there for students that need them will be very helpful. Students will have an alternative that works for them when they feel they need to move.
