My Students
Our band students are extremely diverse. Many speak Russian, Spanish, Chinese, Urdu, or Uzbek and home. However, despite their differences, they all come together to make music. The great thing about our band program is that you don't need to be an academic all-star to be successful. We all communicate through the language of music, so everyone has the same fair shot to be outstanding.
Our students are outstanding and take music very seriously.
We have won many awards for outstanding performances and have packed concerts at school. Our students' parents value their music education.
My Project
Many of our music stands are in various states of disrepair. Some had the top part, called a lid, that is wobbly. Some require me to fix them multiple times per week, taking away valuable instruction time. Music stands hold students’ band books and sheet music. Bad stands take focus away from learning and are a huge distraction.
We would so appreciate 6 new music stands that create a distraction-free band class.
Last year, we were lucky to have donors replace 5 music stands just in time for the spring concert. Now we are counting on our wonderful Donors Choose a community to help again.
