Stand Tall, Speak Proud: Podium Project

Help me give my students professional tools to help them become polished effective communicators. Flexible use furniture that can be used for dynamic and smooth presentations would really help students become confident public speakers.

My Project

The use of laptops, TVs, digital displays, and projectors has been growing in this technology-rich world. However, a missing piece in creating a really seamless and professional learning environment that often is forgotten is key furniture. It can enhance a teacher's lesson or a student's presentation by limiting bumbling transitions, fumbling laptops, or oddly balancing devices on shelving next to the screen. Purchasing furniture is often very difficult because it doesn't seem like an important item. Yes, you could make do with balancing the laptop next to the screen on a shelf or holding it up during a presentation, but that greatly limits the presenter in how they can best deliver their information in an impactful way.

These podiums will not only provide a stable platform for students to deliver engaging presentations but also assist teachers in delivering smoother and more effective lessons.

By reducing the need for teachers to struggle in front of the room, we can create a more focused and productive learning environment for all. There will be no need for awkward stools next to the screen or having to balance the Chromebook on one hand while trying to point out information with the other.

Best of all, the adjustable height and wheels make the podium even more versatile for use in the classroom because it can also help the teacher use it to move around the room to meet with groups of students without having to carry their laptops, worksheets, textbooks, etc.

As a teacher mentor, I would give my new teachers each a podium. These three adjustable rolling podiums can be the thing to push our student presentations to the next level and increase the effectiveness of three teachers' classrooms. The number of students impacted by such a simple piece of furniture is limitless.
