My Project
As a teacher, I'm constantly inspired by my preK students' unbridled curiosity and zest for discovery. What truly captivates me about my students is their innate sense of wonder and eagerness to explore. At this tender age, they possess a natural fascination with transportation, and the New York City subway system holds a special place in their hearts.
Picture the wonder in the eyes of preschoolers when they witness a train rushing by, cars linked like a long, sleek serpent navigating the city.
For my extraordinary preKers in Flushing, Queens, this enchantment with trains is a daily occurrence, particularly since many of them live steps away from the terminal station of the 7 train on Main Street.
I'm embarking on an exciting project to acquire a set of all NYC MTA subway trains. These subway train sets hold incredible educational potential for my students. At this age, children's interests are the gateway to their learning. These subway train sets will not only feed their passion for trains but also introduce them to other subway lines, sparking new interests and encouraging exploration.
As they piece together tracks and arrange the subway trains, my students will develop spatial awareness, understanding how the pieces fit together to create a functioning subway system. This hands-on activity will enhance their cognitive skills, helping them understand spatial relationships and improve their problem-solving abilities.
Through play with these subway train sets, my students will engage in conversations about the different trains, their colors, and the places they go. Interactive play will naturally boost their language skills, enriching their vocabulary, and promoting meaningful communication.
Your support will enable our preschoolers to explore their fascination with trains and the world, turning these subway train sets into tools for learning, growth, and sheer joy.
