Stand Cart for Musical Art!

My students need a music stand storage cart to help organize and save space, which will allow them more room for movement in the bandhall.

My Students

My students are enthusiastic musicians at a low-income school, and they work hard to achieve their goals. Band is a very positive class/ activity in which everyone is welcome and encouraged to participate. Research shows that students involved in band/music have a higher engagement in class, better grades, and higher self-esteem and motivation.

During their careers in band, my students experience commitment and develop skills in teamwork, communication, leadership, goal-setting, achievement and so much more!

Throughout their 7 years of involvement in the band (grades 6-12 possible), my students become a band family and continue giving this type of support to one another, even after graduation.

My Project

This stand rack will allow us to more easily store and move stands for performances and cleaning times. Right now, to move stands, they must be carried 2 at a time (at most 3) by myself or the students. This calls for at least 20 trips (or 20 people carrying 2 stands each) from the Bandhall to the performance area with the stands.

When the Bandhall is to be cleaned, we must move the stands out of the way.

Putting the stands on a cart when it’s time to for the Bandhall floors to be cleaned (2 or 3 times a week) will allow for the whole floor to be cleaned every time (simply clean the main part of the floor, then steer the cart a few feet away to clean the part the cart was on).

It will also save space by storing stands that are not in use during particular class periods: our Bandhall is small, so saving space is important to allow for better mobility within the room.
