Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are a very diverse group. They come from different backgrounds and beliefs. Some kids have access to technology and some don't have it at home. With the rise in technology knowledge for current jobs, all students need to know how to be tech-savvy. Our school has a diverse population, with ninety-five percent of students receiving free or reduced-price lunches. Many face challenges in and out of school and in their homes. A school is a place of refuge for some, and I want to provide ample opportunities to shine where they are in their development. As their teacher, I see a group of wonderful children full of energy and a willingness to jump in and try new things.

With Arizona being forty-ninth in state funding, it isn't easy to give all students what they need.

For our students to compete in the job market, they must be exposed to and solve problems.

My Project

Some kids are active learners and like to stand while they are learning. Students don't always learn best while sitting. Kids learn best when we meet their individual needs. I am trying to create a flexible seating arrangement in my room to meet all kids and their diverse needs. School is not how it use to be when I was growing up. There has been new research to support that kids learn better while they are active in the room. I have some kids that are ADHD and ADD. Having these standing desks would help them stand, focus and learn when need be.
