This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My amazing students come to school every day excited to learn and ready to collaborate. We are a Title 1 school nestled in the very Southern corner of the 'Desert Southwest,' serving students from hard working and dedicated families. Hard work, determination, enthusiasm, and HOPE are the mantras of our classroom and school.
We focus on high energy and learning with enthusiastic passion, and that sometimes can't be done sitting down!
We live, breathe, and practice a method of inspired learning that incorporates kinesthetic learning through collaboration. Stand up desks or modified learning stations would be giving these learners a chance to utilize this focus in a more comfortable manner.
My Project
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will also help my kinesthetic learners successfully collaborate with their peers without severely impacting or disturbing the flow of the classroom or their learning process.
Movement and collaboration while learning has been shown to increases student successes both in and out of the classroom.
When students work with others, they are introduced to new concepts and new ways of learning along with various strategies for problem-solving.
When moving around, studies have shown that both oxygen and glucose benefit students while learning and help activate new pathways to improve and sustain memory and newly learned and practiced content. Having these desks will allow them to trade off and get a chance to move beyond the confines of a traditional desk and elevate their learning from a standing view point.
