Help me give my students books of interest to build their home libraries that are empowering, culturally relevant, mind stimulating, and fun like ¨I am Malala¨, ¨Hidden Figures¨, ¨Animal Facts to Make You Smile!¨and ¨Dog Man, the collection¨.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The reading intervention class that I teach is for students that have an SRI lexile level that ranges from BR to 400. Some of my students are newcomers that speak Spanish or Arabic. Other students are native English speakers.
The Coronavirus pandemic have forced students to learn virtually from their homes; away from many of the resources that they would have access to at school like libraries full of book to read.
Having books at home in order to build their own library like Captain Underpants, Big Nate, and Diary of a Wimpy Kid will create a stampede to read during these unprecedented times.
As a result I decided to create another project that would allow students to continue to build their reading and comprehension growth.
My Project
My project will support students in building reading stamina while learning virtually. Even while at home students will have enough copies of books of interest to read and having these books in their home library from different genres from fiction to non fiction, biographies, nature, and comics about will create a stampede to read during independent reading time.
These books will allow students to learn and grow as readers and discover new ideas from the books that they will be given to take home and keep without having to worry about returning them!
