Stage Makeup Project for Drama Students

My students need stage makeup supplies such as makeup kits, bruise wheels and scar wax so that we can add a necessary and engaging unit to our existing curriculum.

My Students

I have the distinct pleasure of offering my students an opportunity to embrace the arts while they are still in high school. I am excited to see my classes grow and I want to continue to challenge my theatre students with new experiences.

My drama kids are amazing!

They are some of the most dedicated students in the entire school. They arrive each day with the energy and the willingness to learn and often they are there long after everyone else has left. They spend hours on the stage and behind the scenes. I know that they may not all go on to find careers in the arts, but I hope that they leave high school with an appreciation for the hard work and dedication that goes into any kind of performance whether it is theatrical, musical, or visual.

My Project

I would love to start to introduce our theatre students to more of what goes on behind the scenes and I know that stage makeup would provide many students with another outlet to enjoy the arts. I want to use these materials to begin to introduce students to the techniques of basic stage makeup, special effects, and aging and contouring techniques. The materials I hope to purchase will give me a basic makeup supply for the advanced drama classroom. I would like to purchase a one Ben Nye deluxe makeup kit and one Graftobian brand deluxe makeup kit that would serve all of my students' skin tones. I would also like some stipple sponges, a bruise wheel, and some scar wax for fun added effects!

So often students are steered away from their love of the arts because it is not a "practical" career choice.

I really want to show my students that there are so many different careers that they can choose from that would still keep them involved in the arts. Being able to dabble in make-up artistry is just one of the many careers available that would allow them to showcase a skill AND to be around what they love so much!
